The Japanese will be realistic in multiplayer.

The early-war Japanese pilots had spent an absurd amount of time flying. They had bad radios, so thay easily got separated and would often 'lone-wolf'. They loved a good dogfight. They would often fly literal feet from the ground. They would viciously pursue kills, and had little regard for their own lives.

So basically, just the average flight simmer lol.

I used to love to bait Hellcat pilots in my Ki61, and BnZ Wildcats in the A6M2N.

So much fun.

Seemed like we could fly around almost with aplomb didn’t it? Oddly I was least comfortable/successful in the George as it was too close in performance to the Hellcat etc. I did much better flying the Zeke and sucking them down to my fight.

The A6M6 (?) was my plane of choice back in Aces High (and the SpitV), had it dialed in to know exactly how high and at what speed I needed to be in level flight to bait the BnZ guys in their 190s and P51s into trying to stay with me in a Split-S. Loved watching them splat into the ground. . 😁

Not sure why a 190 or Mustang driver would even try to follow a Zero in aerobatics. Sounds like they didn't know their own mounts very well. I typically fly just a few models (usually not the best models either) and get to know them well. Really liked the A5/A6 and 51B in the last flight sim. Know your strengths and limitations.

Jack of all trades, master of none caveats may apply.

Used to call it red mist, another way of saying impatience (or stupidity if you like!)..

None of us have ever flown a semi-realistic zero in a flight sim I don't think. The one in IL-2 1946 doesn't even have stick forces/compressibility modeled so I imagine that would make the Zero a lot less effective, especially as the war progresses.

It had stick forces for ailerons but nothing else

Hey folks:classic_smile:...just recently found out about this new sim... very much looking forward to it!

About the original topic...

Well, as the technology gets better and better I suppose we will see some kind of leveling the playground... I.e. vast differences and between planes advantages/disadvantages of particular types will be ironed by the quality of materials used, advanced physics (both for machine and the pilot), low/good fuel quality.  (un)reliable engines, ease of damage repair etc. etc.

About the low alt furballs turnfights and online duels... I suppose we all have our joys but I know I would enjoy good quality campaign more than anything else really.
