  1. I've figured out WEFTU but what does the P stand for, prop reference? Direction of rotation? By inference, I think the stars are the relative size of the item listed.
  2. Missed this somehow. Well done Props!
  3. These two plugin tutorials/demos really caught my fascination last week. The first one with the coastline modifier is amazing. The second one with the buoyancy system seems particularly applicable to CP.
  4. My understanding is UE can be broadly modified/customized. In this instance for fluid dynamics, physics, air combat, and damage modelling. So, beside off the shelf plug-ins, a skilled team can tailor the engine to it's/our needs. Is this not the case? Fett
  5. Viper, Please check your PM's. Fett
  6. Agreed but there is actually a fair amount of land and historical airfields throughout the Hawaiian Islands chain. I wouldn't want just Oahu or Hawaii as a stand alone island. Lots of "what if" and MP possibilities there. The full chain plus the area of the Coral Sea (separate map) with dynamic weather or semi-dynamic weather would be ideal. Also; I only learned this year that, technically, Midway Atoll is part of the Hawaiian Islands chain. Mind.................blown. It makes sense, in that vein, to "complete" the chain and thus add Pearl to the mix at some point. Keep the map makers, texture-ists (?!?), and artists busy while other assets are being developed, like capital and support ships which will take quite some time to bring to the fore. Fett
  7. Frankly, Solomons or New Guinea as not the second installment is inconceivable (and I will be sorely disappointed if the appropriate meme is not immediately posted). Midway has name recognition going for it, among the lesser versed in the aviation community, and therefore maximum sales opportunities. If you say "New Guinea" to the average MSFSimmer and probably many Air Quakers, it would not resonate. Midway has at least a pair of movies and one in the last five years that did well in theaters/streaming services. It is among the most famous battles of the war. I don't know about today's students but it got a couple of pages, as did D Day, in World History class back in high school. It is clearly the best choice to start the franchise development from both equipment and marketability standpoints. Provided it sells well, you will get one or both of the aforementioned Areas of Operations. For me, I'd also like to see Hawaii/Pearl in the first iteration or Hawaii/Pearl and Coral Sea in an early add on. But that's just me and my wishful thinking. Fett
  8. I can see a single training AC for each side on a longer roadmap vision but it is unlikely in the first iteration. Maybe a primary trainer, as we won't really need an advanced trainer in a simulation. The fear of death and training accidents in a high powered AC is somewhat less than IRL.
  9. Pretty sure your General/Wishlist SB2C's are actually TBD's. Though similar in planform, the SB2C has a straight, not tapered, leading edge and the pitot is on the opposite side, closer to the wingtip.
  10. What is the device they all seem to have on the hardpoint under the starboard wing?
  11. I think 1917 lacked a certain level of grittiness. That might just be a problem with UHD in general. It seems to make everything bright in a way. I was speaking mostly to the pacing. All Quiet does not lack the grit and is well worth a watch.
  12. I think Borgnine largely carried the 80's version. The new one is exceptional all the way around and worth a watch. If you liked 1917, it has a very similar feel/pace with more of the book version's sense of the horrors of war and impending doom.
  13. I always understood it as 0755 as that is the accepted time the first bomb hit. Nitpicking, rivet counting, and other caveats apply.
  14. This is the print: REIGN of FIRE - USS Pennsylvania at Leyte Gulf 1944 by Mark Churms Second image is, indeed, Val's. With Nevada in the foreground and Pennsy, again, in the background. The title is: Remember Pearl Harbor by Robert Taylor
  15. It's an excellent museum overall. Most of their aircraft are airworthy and get up a couple times of year (or more depending). I've been many times, though, I've put a continent between me and there now. I still PayPal them monthly from afar. The monthly fly dates have good hangar presentations before the flights that are informative. Best of all, it sounds like they are going to revive their airshow which is among the best for us WWII fans. Both are well worth attending. Fett
  16. Not sure why a 190 or Mustang driver would even try to follow a Zero in aerobatics. Sounds like they didn't know their own mounts very well. I typically fly just a few models (usually not the best models either) and get to know them well. Really liked the A5/A6 and 51B in the last flight sim. Know your strengths and limitations. Jack of all trades, master of none caveats may apply. Fett
  17. While I don't need it to be functional, I'd like to see the hangar cat equipment as part of the carrier models in game. A static Hellcat sitting on it would be fine by me.
  18. Hangar deck catapault!
  19. Welcome Fenice, I remember both you and those servers well. Here's hoping you can revive some iteration of them in this new adventure. Fire was easily my favorite arcade server. Valor was also a blast. Fett
  20. In watching hundreds of hours of air combat docs, I can say with confidence that wingmen stay with you for only a small percentage of the time once contact has occurred. There are hundreds of sound bites where a pilot engaged or disengaged and, "found myself alone in the sky without any friends or enemies," to speak of. Entire flights often misunderstand radio calls or miss hearing them at all. While we all want better wingmen, the fog of war and reality dictates they be at least moderately unreliable (after contact anyway) to be accurate.
  21. The Air Force is honoring the Doolittle Raiders for the Air Force/Navy tilt today.
  22. I don't own it but this book is getting excellent reviews over on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Aero-Engines-1910-1945-Mike-Goodwin/dp/8365281325/ref=sr_1_2?crid=WB4UPSZOQ3S4&keywords=japanese+wwii+aircraft+engines&qid=1696692892&sprefix=japanese+wwii+aircraft+engines%2Caps%2C86&sr=8-2#customerReviews
