MSFS2020

Recommended Posts

From time to time I absolutely enjoy some civil flying. And to be honest, it´s impressing how the Asobo team pushes forward (of course there is a lot of funds involved) in terms of technical fidelity. Meanwhile there is also a lot of quality 3rd party content like the warbirds from Flying Iron and the Milviz Corsair. It´s impressive, how they implemented gliders, which I enjoy big time. So from time to time I don´t need all guns blazing but rather have a great scenery flight with impressive weather engine. 🙂

It's pretty impressive what MSFS2020 can acheive on my potato computer.

Flying Irons Spitfire is a 'must have' in my opinion.

Still looking forward to some dive bombing in a Dauntless in Combat Pilot....:classic_biggrin:

Hoping that Jason and Team are taking notes of what msfs is doing, lots of really cool stuff in here. The ability to seamlessly switch between VR and 2d is INSANELY useful, and having separate graphics settings for each makes taking gorgeous screenshots super easy. Can even take off the headset and fly long legs in 2nd to give my head and eyes a break. Incredible!

I've said it elsewhere on the forums too, but looking at aircraft like the Milviz 310R with its persistent maintenance and state tracking (All the switches are just where you left them when you left the plane- Alternatively, theres a "rental" mode that simulates other pilots flying the plane between your flights, with switches being left in random positions and random increased wear) Would be sweet for a career mode where your fleet of aircraft can really feel unique and alive on an individual level.

Finally, heres the obligatory pretty screenshots. Been taking my Beaver up the coast of BC from Seattle to Alaska:

the DC-6 is my go to bird.  Gotta love all of the dials and switches.  😀   Also have the F6F and P-38.  For the F6F, I completed an around the world fight with her. Took a while, plus with real weather, I was snowed in a few times.

Looking forward to the day we can fly the F6F in combat, though I'm more than excited to start with the F4F!  (Awesome little bird)

If you had to choose between the flyingiron F6F or P-38, which would you go with? I've been tempted to snag one, but warbirds don't really seem to be msfs' strong suit. I have the Milviz Corsair, looks and sounds great but otherwise seems to underwhelm. Wondering if the P-38 being a twin engine would feel a bit better.

to be honest, I spend more time in the F6F (only because I have limited time to fly, and it's hard to get through all of the birds).  Got them both on a sale, saved a bit.  Honestly, both are really great modules.  Flyingiron did a bang up job.

Since you have the Corsair already (and having a Pratt & Whitney radial), maybe go with the P-38?

Thats definitely where I was leaning, unless the Flyingiron planes are just that much better than the Milviz one, the P-38 will provide something newer and more interesting. I'm hoping for another marketplace sale again soon to flesh out my hangar. That Spring sale a few months back was bad for my wallet too!

You inspired me, so I took out the P-38 just a while ago.  Did a nice short run from KIWA (Phoenix Gateway) to KSEZ (Sedona).  I love the fact that she has counter rotating props, so it negates the whole engine torque thingy.  But I've been flying the PMDG DC-6 (Cargo variant) a lot, and always have her fully loaded.  When she's a hefty gal, she's really heavy on the controls.  So jumping into the Lightening, whoa!  Like riding a bronco compared to the Liftmaster.

I'm now thinking of doing a run thru South America with the P-38.  Could be fun.  😁

Been playing around with the last World Update which covers the Pacific and the Flying Iron Hellcat which make for an great Combination!! 🙂

Exactly, perfect for flying in that part of the South Pacific.  I'm just amazed at her slow approach speed.  Like she was designed for a carrier or something... 😁

"dang", I wish DCS would've let Flyingiron port this.  Thanks for the vid, I'll be taking my Hellcat out shortly for another spin through the Pacific

Next up from Flyingiron:  https://fselite.net/content/flyingiron-simulations-bf-109-to-release-next-week/

I have both their F6F and P-38.  Both are a hoot to fly.  I'll most likely pickup this one too....

Just finished my initial flight with the Flyingiron bf109.  Picked her up on the release today.  What an incredible module!  Glad that I have a few hundred hours in the K4, (so I have an idea of the 109's quirks).  Had no issue with the ramp start, followed somewhat the steps I used in the K4. Only diff is that they modeled in an inertial starter into the G6, rather then have your crew chief swing it.  No issue with that.

The cockpit looks fantastic, the sounds are model well too.  Overall, very happy with the purchase and will be cranking out some longer flight times when the weekend comes up.

Tomorrow, I'll post some pics.  (But folks on the MSFS site are posting away some over there).

I'm telling ya, this G6 is the shizzle.  The cockpit modeling is excellent.  I wish they'd allow this to be ported over to DCS.  It definitely rivals the K4.  Hat's off to FI!

Getting ready to head out from KIWA to KLAS shortly.
