If you called Geneva in such an instance, prepare for a lonely death. In some way it was like a moonshot. On the way, sometimes you come across installations that were seemingly right from the time when they invented railroad and were left in that state, like Darlington railway station. But as said, Northerners generally stayed true to their stereotype and myself being deliberately not on a tight schedule, it was more of an interesting than an alarming experience. I found out they sell me the tickets where at home I get fined for not having one. So there's that. Our railroad ticketing system is complicated as well, as it also is valid for busses and ships, so no matter.

Can we have a FM thread in this forum?

This so much. I know the devs have data and they will do their thing. But we have data as well and it would be good if we had a specific place, where we can share that in an organized way. It could also be a place where we could discuss (hopefully in a productive manner) with other products and what doesn't. Of course there is always the risk of trash talking, but I think we all know how trash talking looks like and how it looks like when you can prove a point. By now, none of the planes can be much of a surprise, unless they are faulty. Since all of the products are known quantities, we should be able to discuss them. -
They sure needed some help to change the context, but the hobby as such surely suits them well (pun intended):

MSFS2024 is not only a good walking simulator, it's even good for hiking. Like on Mt. Everest.

No flight sim (this includes combat sims!) is complete without flight model discussions.

Now that was an extraordinary insightful exposé! I very much appreaciated reading it. You see, to me as a neutral troglodyte from the continent, much of all that is a great mystery. I mean, I do see the obvious, but the more time I spent on the island, the less I understand it. Whether on business or leisure, I would always just go dead center South for practical reasons. That place even shares the exact same subpopulation of grotesquely entitled but hopelessly middle class twits from all over the world that make my day miserable where I live as well. So there it's like I never left home except for the fact that I always tend get run over when crossing the streets. (Admittedly my fault.) This in turn makes railroad exremely attractive. Not just because where I live, it is the sensible way of locomotion (pun intended), but because Switzerland makes you somewhat indifferent to ticket pricing. Mayfair is about the only place I found from where you can conveniently reach most locations in England as well as where yo can spend a quiet night. And regardless of the traffic, the cab will bring you to the right train station in time to go where you have to be. Taking the train, it is clear that with crossing the M25 perimeter you are changing planets. The nuance between the different places out there is however not trivial to grasp. Hence my interest. A while ago, I was in Redcar on some business, and I must say I did encounter the definition of "Northerner" as in the sketch above. As an alien, it takes a bit of effort to follow through their humor which I do find it generally funny (at least the part I think I understood), even when done at my expense. But fully understanding some who once thought it was sensible thing to give it a try and turn a coal mine under constant rain into some sort of Brighton (but Northern!) is not easy. You see, to us Swiss, the British were always very avant-garde and it usually took a lot of time to understanding them (in the few cases we ever did). The British were not only instrumental that we have our country now as it is, but also gave it identity by inventing tourism in Switzerland as we have it now by sending over Queen Victoria, as well as inventing mountaineering as such. Before, mountain tops were just the places where people would end up dead and sane person would go up there into danger, because why? We are however great in the appropriation of positive results.

Still sitting here, stirring my tea, waiting for @Boo to enlighten me.

Me too... seen and heard it fly.

I doubt that there is any mobo on sale now from larger vendors that have a BIOS older than 6 months. I would be very surprised if the mobo couldn‘t detect a 14 series CPU. But you never know.

Kind of amazing that the people who gave the world the AD Scout Could come up with the Mosquito and the Vulcan: Now that's a flying wing, not those triangulated iPads, where probably the avionics can access and void your insurance as well as your veteran benefits if you bank it past an angle stated in the manual.

To me also, it is in principle clearly the pilots fault. But he came in a delicate situation. Also, following orders when you know you'll be run over is suboptimal as well. If you can't see the pilot in the plane, he can't see you. The boat crew had no knowledge of a takeoff clearance they just saw a plane crossing their path in a takeoff run. Just forcing your right of way is truly asking for it. I always tell my kids to NEVER step out on the PedXing unless the can see the driver seeing them. It is just no use being right when you will be the one closest to the accident. It simply doesn't matter what direction a boat takes on a fun ride. They could have opted for discretion and steered clear of the aircraft. An aircraft on takeoff has just one direction he can go and it can do so only in the fastest way possible. for the boat, it didn't matter where they were going. Also, giving T/O clereance while advising thet "there's a boat" on a body of water full of boats, that doesn't mean much. Maybe the pilot even saw a boat, but not the one hidden under his planes cowling. And seriously, when you are on a boat and the plane powers up and acellerates, do you really think it will change direction like another boat? Even worse, how fast can it stop compared to another light sports boat where you can kick in the reverse? Even though guilty, I think the pilot was the least stupid among all the people involved.

Well at least it is a friendly Northerner and not an Englishman that turns into Scotsman, but that would be science fiction. @Boo I gather Londoners would count someone from Lincolnshire would count as Northerner? I am just asking because Maggie Thatcher was from there, hence I can't be sure whether it would be northern enough or if there were exceptions to the rule.

Probably hidden under the nose. He had T/O clearance after all. He was probably looking, but didn't see any boat. Hmm.. where could it be? Serious question, would you abort right away in this situation? "Cleared for T/O, but there's a boat in your area." "Ok... I'm looking" Sees nothing while being just about lift off. Do you slam the brakes? Or say, well, one more second and I'm away!

I can tell you that the X670 together with the 7950X3D has gotten really usable with the latest BIOS uptates from a month ago... Building a PC has become a PITA, as most hardware is far from complete and sometimes openly defective. The 4090 (even mine to a slight degree) has been plagued with random black screens, where the DP just quits. Either you unplug and replug (as I found out it to work at times) the monitor cable or you reboot, then you will have video signal again. There was never a fix for that. It seems to be a broken hardware design. CPU's (such as yours) are defective (make sure you stay in line with voltage!) or as in case on my mainboard, they come with settings that can kill your CPU. Only recent BIOS updates rectified that (for the most part) for a product that is in the market for more than a year. But einther way, just make sure your CPU voltage is ok and use latest BIOS updates. You should have a well performing rig then. It is clear that the current 2XX series is also are intended to maturate at the client. I wouldn't touch that with a stick.
