  1. Just because the "buck stops there" doesn't mean it actually matters. It absolutely doesn't. What I'm saying is if someone else was sitting there it would be exactly the same. Sure, you can blame the sheriff when a deputy does a DUI hit-and-run, but to actually believe that if a different sheriff was in charge that deputy would NOT have done that? Or that some other sheriff could have magically known the deputy would do it ahead of time and prevented it? The job is to run a company, not to have people who have no idea what they're talking about hate you for stupid reasons. And I want to laugh (actually, fart) in the face of anyone who talks about ESG or whatever because it also doesn't matter. When corporate motives were to rip off the customers, screw over the employees, and pad the pockets of the board and shareholders, that's fine it's the American WAY, but throw the letters ESG in and now it's detestable? 🤔 Looks like a lot of Kool Aid ingested there. The gov't shouldn't regulate or interfere with business in any way...oh except for the stuff we disagree with, then interfere away and stop it!! Corporations are people and should be able to spend money on politics because it's free speech! Oh, until the free speech is something we don't like, then we will have to retaliate for them not staying in their lane! Free market as long as they believe what we do! What a joke. I wish there was no press. Not free, not state, nothing. A totally ignorant populace would be preferable to the willfully disinformed one we have now that refuses to think for itself and instead lets "news" (that is really nothing but opinions based on lies, twisting facts, and omitting contrary ones) do it for them. "You will be angry when you hear this!" "Wait till you hear this that should make you outraged!" So worried about the degradation of society while pointedly ignoring the fact that a skeleton can't rot...it already happened long ago! Mark my words, by 2025 someone will try to make the US a one-party state because the other ones are anti-American, can't be trusted, are out to destroy the country, blah blah blah and Russia and China are doing so much better with just one...as long as we agree with that lone party it will be a good thing. The fact that so many people think a civil war is a good idea and the OTHERS should be kicked out or just killed proves the ignorance, sickness, and rot run deep.
  2. Ray has done a lot of good work in the past. His more recent stuff has missed the mark for me, but anything before 1990 or so is usually gold.
  3. ...but how do you get VR out of it??? 😄
  4. I've not seen it, but I do find it funny when a 3 minute event is stretched to a 2 hr movie. This wasn't some event that had a ton of planning beforehand, it was just an everyday takeoff that went horribly wrong with a very atypical ending.
  5. I find it amusing just how much control people think Kennedy has over these things. Everything wrong with them is her fault. Everything done right was done without her oversight at all. How is that supposed to work? Answer: it doesn't work that way. She has less control over this than Kevin Feige does over Marvel. She's a producer, not a writer. She has not only no writing credits, she doesn't even have a story credit on a single film or TV series in over 40 years in the business. It's SUPER convenient to blame her for every misstep since Lucas sold to Disney but it's also nonsensical. Others bring her the ideas and scripts and what not and she gives the ok or not to develop them. She's a money person, a nuts and bolts person that knows how to get movies made. JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan and Rian Johnson and Gareth Edwards and Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni developed the ideas, said this is what we want to do and she said "I can give you $XYZ for that." Josh Trank and Colin Trevarrow came to her with their ideas and she said "no, I don't think so." People then proceed to ascribe every single detail they don't like to her like she's some kind of female Palpatine which makes zero sense. She's had equal input on every film and TV series released since 2015 and yet somehow people talk about how they like this one and hate that one. Again nonsense. You want to hate on JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan and Rian Johnson and Gareth Edwards and Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni? Sure, go ahead. They are the ones that actually came up with the stories and the details. That's right, Solo was written by the same guy who wrote The Empire Strikes Back. But lets not blame him. I would bet every billion Disney spent on Star Wars that if it was someone else instead of her in that position absolutely nothing would have changed. If the same people wrote and directed those films they wouldn't be any different.
  6. Unlike the ETO where distances were close enough you can do a lot without them, the PTO usually required them for fighters minus a few exceptions. I have a feeling this is on their roadmap, I can't guess where however.
  7. *zoom* That's the point flying right over your head. I DO know of people who do that sort of over-the-top-stuff. The POINT is that they are often the most judgmental types, not that others are judging them.
  8. You think the Pacific has been ignored, what about those who want a Vietnam air war sim? I think USNF 97 was the last major developer release, and after that it was Strike Fighters' one and a half man team. Makes CFS2 and Pacific Fighters seem like an embarrassment of riches.
  9. Weird Al, Spike Jonze, and Alan Sherman are the definite leaders in this category.
  10. My preference is for scalability when it comes to realism/hardcore. The trouble is when the MP-only people start insisting everyone should have to deal with full real/max difficulty, all the time, no exceptions. That should be a server-side setting that is enforced there so people can make their own servers, or fly offline, with as little or whatever combination of real/assists they want. That usually goes hand in hand with the "it's a sim not a game" whining. From those who think they're too good to be playing a mere game but have no trouble using virtual ranks and wearing real gloves and junk when flying.
  11. That was at its best in Red Baron II/3D. Also Sierra/Dynamix but I think it worked even better there than in AotP/AoE.
  12. Am I correct that there is still no AI for coop PvE in Squad?
  13. This? Why I could make a hat, a broach, a pterodactyl...
  14. Nothing beats the joy of getting the floppy disks for Falcon 3 home from Electronics Boutique and starting the install only for it to fail on the next to last disk after 30 minutes because there was a fatal replication flaw in the 5.25" masters... Then heading back to EB to exchange it for a 3.5" version.
  15. Since it's too early for a full DD, maybe we could get PT109 or something equivalently sized?
  16. Yeah, something tells me next year's would be the time Jason and co hope to have something to show and get the marketing train running like a Doobie Bros song.
  17. Yes. We don't necessarily need moving lines of contact, that's fine for happening between missions. Let them be in fixed positions during the mission, especially as armor battles were so rare in the Pacific anyway. Arty, troops, trucks, AAA, and of course ground facilities. Some docked ships, too.
  18. It's also a case of aim. The AI in most sims is just too good when it comes to aiming. I'd say when I die in GB, 75% of the time my plane is largely undamaged but I'm killed with a bullet to the cockpit. Those types of kills should be the exception, not the rule. A human is a comparatively tiny part of the target, the guns shouldn't be accurate enough with g's and wind and such to allow anyone, especially an AI, to target and successfully hit the pilot that easily, especially with the first bullet of the first burst. The AI also needs to have imperfect lead. They should fire in front of or behind a target more often, with accuracy growing with experience level because knowing how much lead to pull is 100% something that is learned with experience. Gunners in bombers should also be affected by this.
  19. I have two throttle grips and 2 complete Winwing sticks, their Hornet and Viper stuff for the Orion bases. Paired with a great set of MFG pedals.
  20. When I was growing up I had a tape my dad had made of 60s novelty songs. Including Snoopy vs the Red Baron it had such songs as Tie Me Kangaroo Down They're Coming to Take Me Away Monster Mash Ahab the Arab Jolly Green Giant Papa Oom Mow Mow Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Wild Thing - Senator Bobby Kennedy version
  21. Oh yes, that slipped my mind too. I never understood using decimals instead of commas because that can cause confusion if you don't have a round number. 490,000.034 is very clearly .034 added to 490,000 while 490.000.034 could mean either .034 added to 490,000 or 1000 times more? I think I've also seen all commas used with no decimals which I also find frustratingly vague.
  22. People actually have issue with new releases coming in a shorter interval than your regularly scheduled colonoscopy??
  23. Over Tunisia? No, I'll never be over Tunisia! We took so much ground fire, I don't know how we survived. How we survived? No, Howie didn't make it! He took shrapnel over the coast and bled out...
  24. I'd prefer a fortnight, just not the one from Epic Games...
  25. I think that decimal is in the wrong place, that is certainly not 500 sq km. That would be only 25km each way...
