  1. Development blog #4 is now out. Graphics a huge imrpovement on the old game. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2000800/view/3905247323869918340
  2. Ahh well, no prob. Either way, it is a very emotive picture.
  3. To me it just comes across as to yehaa, and far too cliched. Along the lines of Memphis Belle. But maybe that's a reflection of the actors. Whereas I think 12 O'clock High was a much more accurate depiction of people in a stressful situation. As both the Pacific and Band Of brothers portrayed.
  4. Spectacular Icky, thanks! Am trying to guess which US battleship it is. Given it has 4 triple gun turrets, it has to be one of the Pennsylvania, New Mexico or Tennessee class. Now I'm guessing that the picture is depicting a kamikaze attack, one of which has successsfully struck the battleship. Only three battleships in those classes were actually 'hit' by kamikaze, namely the New Mexico in Lingayen Gulf on 6 January 1945; the Mississippi also on the 6th January off Luzon; and the Tennessee on 12 April off Okinawa. However the superstructure of the ship in the picture doesn't fit those of the New Mexico or Tennessee class. After refit both those classes had a higher, more blocky bridge structure. And on the stern both classes had double AA mounts, not the single shown in the picture. So I would have to go with the ship depicted being the USS Pennsylvania. Even though she was never struck by a kamikaze. She was near missed by four bombs on 10 January in Lingayen Gulf; and struck by a torpedo launched from an aircraft on 12th August off Okinawa. Am I right? Is it the USS Pennyslvania?
  5. I sure hope the Dev's are taking note at the interest shown in the various scenario's. Top request's are: Guadalcanal/Solomons/Rabaul @ 11 China @ 8 Malaya/Singapore @ 8 New Guniea @ 8 Midway @ 5 Carrier Ops (Gen) @ 5 Philippines (early) @ 3 Marianas/Leyte @ 3 Burma @ 3 Doolittle Raid @ 2 Pearl Harbour @ 1 I find that a very illuminating list. And I like the priorities.
  6. GOG has revamped European Air War so that the 7217 error is no longer a problem. And it's a steal at $14.50. https://www.gog.com/en/game/european_air_war If you ever have the urge to step back in time.
  7. Luv the fact that so many here still use the classic Microsoft FFB stick!
  8. Am curious. Have never tried land battle games, like to be up in the clouds with the birds. :) Saying that, it does look interesting. Does it play like an air combat sim? By that I mean do you select to be a particular person, play that role and actions happen around you? Is that what RTS means? Or is it more a strategical command role the player fulfills?
  9. A truly impressive man. Experienced true horror at the hands of the Communists in Poland upon his return in 1947. Whilst imprisoned wrote his memoirs in 1953. Well worth a read.
  10. Actor Jimmy Stewart flew a B-24 in combat. Also beat up an airfield in one.
  11. Not being American I don't understand all the hoo-ha about Thanksgiving. But I gotta say you folks certainly get into it. So Happy Thanksgiving. :)

  24. There are some good photo's of airfield strikes in New Guinea in the book "Air Apaches. The 345th Bomb Group in WWII' by Jay Stout. Although whole airfields are not shown, the detail covered by the photo's gives a very reasonable idea of layout, revetments and buildings.
  25. Gotta admit I have a real soft spot for the P-40. Didn't mind the P-40 in 1946, not a great FM but liveable. After all it was the only one around to fly. As Feldgrun mentioned though, in Desert Wings it is excellent. Performs very closely to first hand accounts. A real joy to fly and fight, but always with it's limitations in mind.
