This is pretty wild.  A Kamikaze struck the side of the HMS Sussex, 1945

If he was carrying a bomb, it looks like it didn't detonate. Otherwise, he hit where he was planning to, right at the water line.

Direct hit on the armor belt.  If it had hit higher up on the hull, or on the superstructure it would have done more damage.

This famous image of a kamikaze strike on BB-63 always terrified me as a child, but I recently learned that it only made a small dent in the side, visible to this day, and nobody died except the attacking pilot.

It was a kawasaki ki 51 Sonia divebomber. And the bomb bounced off. So the impact did little to none damage 

it might have been different if the bomb had worked

There don't seem to be a bomb otherwise we would have seen a paint trace (even not exploded) between the landing gear legs.

It seems a VAL bomber that after having used its bomb finally ended up as a kamikaze trying to sink a ship.

This is the kind of picture where one could wonder if it is not a fake one. Too clean, to precise. The wing is exactly as it is but this is a head on collision. There should be many traces all over. This is too crystal clear. Or the picture was taken after the side was already washed up and only the most penetrating traces of paint and metal remained.

I still have some doubt. Interesting picture for sure.

Many years ago on the GB forums Jason mentioned that he would like to do Okinawa as part of a Pacific module. I have never seen the point of an Okinawa scenario - the Allies have overwhelming air superiority and the only Japanese aircraft you are going to meet are Kamikaze. Unless there is some sort of bizarre scoring system where you don't lose a life by dying 🤪 no-one is going to sign up for that. Maybe a few goes in SP and then what? MP servers populated on one side only against AI Kamikaze? Doesn't really appeal.

Of course, you could go and sink the Yamato. Probably once.

Same view here... however, if it was played as a conventional attack would the Japanese have made an impact? It would lead to some hairy missions with dive bombers and torpedoe planes.
