Enceladus
When I started playing Pacific Fighters when I was in preschool I have always been fond of the H8K “Emily”. I’ve always had fun shooting it down and it’s got to be one of my favourite Japanese planes. Though some other games have the Emily, my favourite depiction of it is in PF/IL-2 1946. If there was one Japanese plane from IL-2 1946 I would want to have flyable with an authentic cockpit it would be the Emily. Since there is one complete H8K still in existence, I hope an AI H8K can be added to Combat Pilot. Cheers 3 Quote Author of Liars in the Cockpit? Trooper117
Well, from another game, but it might get the juices flowing a bit, lol!
Chris455
I think it would certainly be useful. Any Japanese aircraft Jason & Co can get data on has a better chance, I think, of making it into the sim even if only as an AI. I for one would welcome it at any level.
ÆþelrædUnræd
A real beauty, and quite heavily armed and armoured too if I'm not mistaken. I'd love to fly it, but I doubt we'll see it in the first Combat Pilot game; I don't think there were any H8Ks at Midway, were there? Boba Fett
Per the Wiki, the first Emily lost was shot down by a lowly Buffalo while on a recon mission over Midway Island. 1 Quote Fett “I’d say we’re offering a fair deal under the circumstances.”
BlitzPig_EL
That was one of the two prototype H8Ks that had taken part in Operation K, the second attempted bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Gambit21
I have no hope of actually ever seeing it flyable...as much as I'd love that. It's just very complex for such a niche interest unless a 3rd party took it on...and who knows. We need at least an AI version though. 2
BlitzPig_EL
That Emily made the last flight of an Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft with a Japanese crew, when if flew from it's base to a port to be put on a ship and sent to the US for evaluation. On that flight it had to fly a zig zag course, because the escorting PBY could not keep up with it. 2

Lusekofte
It might be complex and it might not be the first plane built. But we are talking about Jason here, the man who made PO 2 and JU 52 flyable. Two of my all time favourites. If all goes well, economical future is in some way foreseeable and things are settling down. I can see this being offered to us. We all know how important PBY was in this theatre , I do not think we will get it as a flyable first couple of years. There is just too much to be done getting combat going
Trooper117
If it does come, I'd bet it would be an AI model first...
Chief_Mouser
PBY Catalina is an absolute must - I'd like it as early as possible in the Midway scenario. Emily? Would love to have it, the sooner the better, but my first choice for a Japanese flying boat to fit the early Pacific War scenario would be the H6K Mavis. I've always loved the look of it, whereas the Emily is a bit like a child's drawing of a Sunderland. I don't suppose we'll ever get both, and if the Emily does turn up I won't complain. Cheers 🍻. Freycinet
Can't believe it is stored outside. come on Japan, you have the money to preserve this better!
BlitzPig_EL
Preservation of relics of the Imperial period is a touchy subject in Japan, to put it mildly. But I do agree with you Freycinet, this is a very historical piece and it deservers better care.
