Attention Pilots!

Feel free to discuss what computer hardware you use or how to squeeze the best performance out of your machine. The best combat flight-sim experience begins with quality hardware.

Whatever engine CP uses, modified commercially available or proprietary, I hope it utilizes modern tech like multithreading, raytracing, and the like from the start. No need to go wild with the RT now, but if it's there to begin with things can be turned up as the hardware advances without heavy lifting later.

I did have the intention for an upgrade to an 7800X3D & RTX4070ti, only right now I’m canceling this because who knows an next 14gen Intel and a future AMD series 8000 Vcard is a better choice. Its especially counting for Vcards but some game do run better on AMD, or Nvidia or Intel, hardware.

Keep in your mind this is only the flysim announcement, guess it will cost 1,5 years to get something flying on your rig.

I would argue this should be a survey link so it's easier for the devs to collate numbers, far easier than trawling a forum post and manually counting.

I’m afraid when this game is being released we are 1,5y later while 50% of the publishers here, do have something different.

  • Forgotten what the motherboard is 🤔
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700k @ 4.20GHz
  • Memory/RAM: 32GB DDR5
  • HDD: 240GB  SSD for Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • HDD: 3TB HDD for flight sims.

  • Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB
  • Monitor Resolution: 2560 x 1440 @144Hz

      Controllers/Joystick:

  • Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS throttle;
  • WinWing Orion 2 joystick and base.
  • MFG Crosswind Pedals
  • Saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant
  • Authentikit throttles and trim units
  • Home-built button box.

  • TrackIR 4 c/w LED Clip Pro
  • Tobii Eye Tracker 5. Please make Combat Pilot with inbuilt support for this; Il-2 GB doesn't have it.
  • No VR.

Of course, by the time we get the specs for Combat Pilot I'm going to realise that some of my rig is sadly inadequate. I reckon I might need a new motherboard, CPU and graphics card for it. Plus another SSD.

Cheers.

True... But I'm going to need a couple of 2 TB nvme SSD's for IL2 Public & Beta... DCS Open Beta, and now Combat Pilot... and all the back up files.  I had been contemplating a few MSFS Warbirds to fly around as well...

Just have to take it in manageable bites...

Those frequent sales of the Great Battles content where it was heavily discounted definitely made that achievable for anyone who did not want to be an early adopter of the content. Only time will tell if they plan on having a similar sales strategy with this project.

I have a system that won't upgrade to Windows 11 for some reason (no camera?), but I have an iron rule about upgrading hardware: Don't do it until you have software in hand that requires the upgrade.  I never thought I would build another PC, but I will if I'm fortunate enough to still be around when this is released, and I won't skimp!

That is the reason why I don't keep betas installed since 270GBs of stable DCS client is enough for my 2 TB ssd, so I can have other games installed also. But that's just me.

Well, I've got two, 2TB nvme M.2 SSD'S in my current build for games... a 500GB SSD with OS on it, and a 350GB HDD Raptor with all my saved junk.... So I'll just keep everything I need to, right where I want it, with room to spare... Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
