MustangMike Posted October 20, 2023 Share Posted October 20, 2023 I got 1946 running shockingly well on my Ubuntu Laptop through Steam (Proton is magic), good bit of fun for some quick on-the-go flying with a gamepad and some of the assists on. Getting facetracking working on Linux is proving to be a bit more of a challenge though!! Gonna be pretty fun once I can get all that going. 3 Quote Working signatures? What a novel concept! Feathered_IV Posted October 23, 2023 Share Posted October 23, 2023 I've been flying 1946 again lately. The enemy AI is really good and the way the combat pairs cooperate is phenomenal. In BoX you can tackle one opponent, safe in the knowledge that every other EA is pissing aimlessly against a wall somewhere. wheelsup_cavu Posted October 23, 2023 Author Share Posted October 23, 2023 I was in a hurry and I made the cardinal sin of playing around with the JSGMe without shutting down the sim. Now it will not start unless all of the mods are disabled. I also had a 2TB HDD fail earlier this year with all of my IL-2 content on it going back as far as 2004 and now this build was screwed up by me having a brain fart. Now I need to start comparing the build I corrupted to this new build to find out what is transferable from the old build to the new build. Considering the old build was over 53GB and the new build is just slightly over 14GB there is definitely some missing content. Mysticpuma Posted October 26, 2023 Share Posted October 26, 2023 (edited) I tend to prefer the B.A.T over HSFX but it's only because I found it easier to install. Cracking the code really did open up the game for improvement but ultimately killed it die to so many versions. Dark Blue World, HSFX, B.A.T (I think there were a couple more) ultimately it spread the players too thin and also the talent that created the mods, rather than focus on one great build, sadly diluted the pool. CLOD is the opposite with modders getting access to the source code, but because they only let so few use it, creating any significant progress is impossible. 5 years gone since VR was discussed and still another year to go at minimum. I still have a few paid for expansions for 1946, like"The Last Days"and a few others. Such a great game. Edited October 27, 2023 by Mysticpuma 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
