I have quite a lot of cockpit photos for the P-36 (here's just on example)🙂

I also have a lot of information about it.
Since the first time I flew it in the IL-2 1946, and discovered that it was extremely maneuverable, I liked it.
Although it was rarely used by the Americans, air forces from several countries had good combats with it.

You‘d get half a Thunderbolt one or two years earlier. I am not sure how the high altitude performance would be of importance in most of the Chinese theater, as I imagine missions resembling more the russian front, where low altitude mud plowing was the rule. Were there engagements where the P43 participated in the Kunming/Sichuan area?

Yep, there were some around Kunming (please check "The longest struggle" by Hakan Gustavson about the air war over China). Moreover, the Japanese were using high-flying Ki-46 on recon missions, so the P-43 would be well-suited to hunt them.

I'm particularly a fan of prototypes.
The Curtiss XP-40q, for example, is one of my favorites.

But I don't know if the community would welcome the addition of prototypes.
I've had many heated debates on various gaming forums, precisely because I advocated for the addition of prototypes.

PS: If I were asked, of all the airplanes in the world, which one would you want?
I would ask for a fighter version of the Hughes H-1 (edited image)

And for those who don't know, yes, Howard Hughes intended to create a fighter version of the H-1.
But unfortunately it didn't happen.
