Discussion of Developer Diary #07

Looking forward to trying the prototype. This Lvl of detail is something I've really missed from IL2, especially on airfields. I hope they populate the carriers with some crew, even if they are just decorative and non functional. Does UE have an out of the box VR mode? I'd assume they would but not sure how much work it needs to implement here. -
A couple new pics of our Akagi and Enterprise...

Excited about the level of detail, looks terrific!! -
For what it's worth, GB is about to release a patch with the extended timers for the P-40. Long overdue but it will give a second life to a stillborn P-40. Regardless, would love to see a CP take on the P-40 in the Pacific.

Maybe because a lot of us are never going back to flying on a monitor, ever again. -

Yeah I surely hope VR is part of the core game. If not on day 1 of early access, at least at some point before official release. -

Steam not mandatory, I implore you

I wouldn't put too much weight towards the Steam whining here, these people would be running the game out of floppy disks if they could. Not a fan of steam taking a decent chunk out of devs' revenue but if their audience reach and dev tools provide a benefit to the team and it's worth the tradeoff, don't think twice. -
Personally, i think it should be somewhere between DCS and GB. DCS has a cheating AI FM that will literally UFO around. One easy way to test it is to use Active Pause when they are on your tail, they will hover or even fly backwards to stay behind you. GB they presumably uses all the same parameters as the player but it also brings the game engine down to its knees when you increase the number of planes. Something not as ridiculous as DCS but simplified enough to not be a bottleneck would be the best solution for me.

Game and Editor should execute in parallel

Excellent game! I recently started playing Zeus, which I never really liked (it didn't click with me) but it's very nice as well. There is a Pharaoh remaster that came out but reviews are not great.

I played Battlestations Pacific and it was a lot of fun at the time. The Games for windows anthentication was a pita, but other than that a great concept.
