  1. DD 01 Dear Pilots, Welcome to our very first Developer Diary for Combat Pilot! We hope this will be the first of many to come as we continue to build our initial prototype and get ready to take flight. Today we want to share some images of our early work which includes the legendary Mitsubishi A6M2 Type 0 Model 21 flown by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Allies assigned it the code name Zeke, but most remember it as simply the Zero. To Japanese pilots it was known as the Rei-sen. The A6M was extremely successful in the early months of the Pacific War and was superior to its American and Allied opponents like the F4F Wildcat and F2A Buffalo. It was built in large numbers throughout the war and several different variants were produced. The A6M2 Model 21 saw action in all the important early Pacific battles such as Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea and Midway and the A6M in all it's various forms continued to see service throughout the war. The Zero has become possibly the most recognizable icon of the Pacific War. We are building a flyable A6M2 to be featured in Combat Pilot and as you can see work is progressing and its beginning to take its very famous shape. It’s a long way from completion still, but you can be assured we will keep you informed of its progress. We also plan to have a Japanese aircraft carrier ready for her to operate from when our prototype is ready. What good is a warplane without some available ordnance to drop on the enemy? Well, we have constructed our first bomb for Combat Pilot and it’s an American 250lb General Purpose bomb. This little bundle of joy will be carried aloft and dropped by our F4F-4 we are building for Combat Pilot. Our art team has done a great job on it. We hope you have enjoyed our first Developer Diary and gives you a glimpse into the work we are doing at this early stage of development. Building Combat Pilot will require a lot of hard work and commitment from our small team and patience from everyone in the community, but we think it will be worth it. At this early stage of the project, we are focused mainly on the fundamentals such as flight and systems modeling and some basic content like the Zeke and bomb above. We are also building the infrastructure and defenses of Midway Atoll. So, lots of work to do. We want to be careful not to make promises we can’t keep, but we do promise to keep you informed of our progress over the next year or so as we work to complete our initial development goals. We know many of you want to know as much as possible about our plans for Combat Pilot both short and long-term, but until we overcome some of these early technical hurdles we can’t say or promise too much. Our initial goals are modest, but we think achievable. We’ll share more about those goals a little later. And please remember that Developer Diaries may be quite infrequent as we continue to get our sea legs, but please keep an eye on our website, Discord, and socials as you never know when one may drop. We want to thank all of you who have expressed your excitement for Combat Pilot and for sending well wishes and encouragement to us since we went public with the project. We also want to thank everyone in the community who has sent us great references and helped us with research. It’s much appreciated! Add power! 2. Guys, They are not mad at you, they are mad at me for allowing some pretty minor criticism here apparently. They are just taking it out on you looks like. Why don't we just leave them to their own devices and avoid making the Combat Pilot forum where you go to complain about the other forum or sim. I'm not trying to build this product up on the backs of complaints about theirs, which you all can technically blame me for anyways. I would take such issues to a neutral non-affiliated forum so no one can blame us here for unhappy people there. I'm not in the mood for a pissing match. I've tried to keep a certain level of détente with them. And believe me it's not been easy. So do me a personal favor and help me keep the peace. Jason
  3. Mysticpuma, I understand you are curious, but I don't want to spend time answering such things in detail and going off on a whole "business" tangent. Mainly because we aren't much of a business or big enterprise yet. Maybe later when we are actually successful, until then we can fail. What's obvious is that we are a small team trying to do a very hard thing. Safe to say that someone reached out to me in the beginning and I reached out to others and then we reached out to some technical people and we put together the team. Involves, contracts and NDAs and many discussions. Most people are trustworthy and you can indulge info to see if they are interested. And as I've previously said I'm not going to discuss the engine at this early date. And in the end this project will cost millions to make just like all the others out there. I apologize for not going into more detail for you, but that's the basic story. Jason
  4. And what's cool is these guys fly over my house everyday and during Red Flag it's a non-stop airshow on my driveway. Jason P.S. watching that video, the spotting in that game is whack!!!! 🙂
  5. Sorry guys no DD today. Getting closer. Jason
  6. Guys, Please take critiques of IL-2 to their forum. Has nothing to do with Combat Pilot. I'm well aware of what you guys like and don't like about IL-2. Jason
  7. Hi guys, I apologize for no official Developer Diary yet, but I assure you progress is being made albeit slowly here at he early stage. I want to thank everyone who has helped me research the Midway Atoll and it’s defenses so our first battleground and aerial attack scenario will be rooted in historical fact. We continue to add to our little staff and make funds available for the things we need. I also see our Zeke and Wildcat starting to take shape and we have a cute little 250lb bomb that will set the stage for good looking ordnance you will drop on the enemy. Our engineers also continue to work on our physics and aircraft systems. Many folks have written me on different subjects and I will endeavor to respond soon. Thank you for your patience guys and your continued support and hanging out on our Discord, Forum and Socials. Have a great weekend pilots! Jason
  8. Happy Independence Day to all my fellow American patriots! Have a great day and I hope it's full of family, friends, hot dogs, beer, baseball and fireworks! But please keep all fingers and toes attached to your body! Be safe and don't drink and drive. Jason
  9. Welcome Legioneod! Jason
  10. Welcome Flying H! Jason
  11. I love the Beaufighter too. I helped make the one found in 1946. Jason
  12. Sorry guys. No DD today. We continue to inch along. Doing our best to get there. Jason
  13. Hi guys, No I won't be at FSExpo either attending or exhibiting this year. Jason
  14. Hey guys, Thanks for the tips. My research today indicates that on Midway the larger guns used for coastal defense and AAA were: 3 inch / 50 caliber "High-Angle" Dual Purpose used for both anti-ship and anti-aircraft. 5 inch / 51 caliber Shore Battery mount used for anti-ship. Removed from ships and re-purposed on Wake and Midway. 7 inch / 45 caliber Shore Battery mount used for anti-ship. Removed from ships and re-purposed for coastal defense. I see no other option for Midway in this case. I have ordered a book that I think will give me all I need to build beautiful models of these guns. Fingers crossed once it arrives. I'll keep you posted. Now onto other missing details on the island. Jason
  15. Hello Guys, Ok first task I need help with on this subject is what type of guns were used in the defense of Midway by the USMC and USN. There were three types - 3 inch, 5 inch and 7 inch. This map shows their locations. The questions we need answers to are: 1. Which models or marks were used at each battery? All these guns had several marks and evolved over time. 2. Where they general artillery or an anti-aircraft gun or a dual-purpose gun? 3. What kind of mount did they use? Low-Angle or High-Angle? If we can answer these questions I can research the guns and have the proper models built. Anyone have any thoughts or helpful info to share? Thanks in advance for any info you may have! Jason
  16. I saw it. I knew most of it. My dad worshipped Arnold. Was a pretty good doc. I enjoyed seeing his hometown in Austria. Such a beautiful little town. Jason
  17. I really hope someday we can cover such theaters. I love the Buffalo. Cool history. Jason
  18. Hey guys, No DD today. Getting closer though. Jason
  19. It may be technically a merger if no money is changing hands for the absorption. How it comes out the other end will either shade it as a purchase or a true merger. I think they will still call it the PGA for marketing purposes. The issue I see being a real difficult one is how it affects the rankings of the PGA and do the players who didn't go to LIV get any kind of windfall. That's what's going to make this sticky political shit aside. Jason
  20. Forget the political angle. From a business perspective I find such big league merger’s interesting. Jason
