  1. So when do we see the Kongo class Klingon battle cruisers? Qapla'
  2. Fascinating details of the radio and gun installations, and well, everything else.
  3. Any US aircraft that could carry a bomb, army or navy. The 2000 pounder would be limited to multi engine bombers, and perhaps the Avenger and maybe the Helldiver.
  4. The US ended the war having built a total of 97 carriers up to that time. Great Britain had 85. The Japanese built 24.
  5. Oh yes!!! Bring them. All of them. And float planes as well.
  6. The Helldiver is impressive in person. I made that photo at Thunder Over Michigan several years ago. It's a beast in the air as well. Another photo when I get home from work.
  7. I'd love to fly the Catalina, or the Emily. I do loves me those flying boats.
  8. This could work in a co-op mode with the rescue of shot down AI "pilots". In multiplayer, no human player is going to wait in an inflatable dingy on the chance he will be picked up, maybe. The refly button will be pressed long before the Cat gets off the water to start the search.
  9. I used to love to bait Hellcat pilots in my Ki61, and BnZ Wildcats in the A6M2N. So much fun.
  10. Precisely. Japan was held back by their slavish adherence to the Bushido code, and the slow development of their industrial base. They had some brilliant designers, and designs that in the end were not enough to overcome their outdated tactical doctrine, and insufficient manufacturing capability.
  11. When the captured Zeke was repaired, the technicians made a mistake with the carb, causing negative G issues. A6Ms in service with the IJN had no such issue.
  12. The really odd thing about the Imperial Japanese air arms is that they were not unaware of the trends in fighter development in the West. They had access to Bf 109Es and had Luftwaffe pilots give demonstrations on flying them against their own aircraft, yet they insisted on sticking with the old mano a mano WW1 type dogfight tactics So strange.
  13. Well, if the tests were run by the IJN I'm pretty sure the fix was in as far as the results go. The Army and Navy were mortal enemies. They would never allow a result that would show the Army plane is better than the Navy one. Much like they manipulated the outcome of wargaming the battle of Midway during the planning stages.
  14. Indeed. Junior officers regularly countermanded orders from higher up their command chain if they felt they were not aggressive enough. There are also examples where, especially in naval surface engagements, an admiral snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The inexplicable retreat of a superior Japanese surface force at the Battle off Samar is a prime example.
  15. Which begs the question, what will the mission builder tools be like?
  16. Those that know me know what I will want... But then there is this...
