Feldgrün
It's a shame that the PV-1 Ventura in Irvine, CA was scrapped recently as they couldn't find a buyer.
Executive Producer Skystreak Productions Jason_Williams Posted December 15, 2023 Executive Producer Skystreak Productions Share Posted December 15, 2023 That’s utter crap. Stupid Irvine. We could have saved that bird. Jason
Trooper117
What???... surely they could have towed the plane outside away from the hanger, at least it would have had a chance. Did they contact foreign collectors outside of the US?
Canvas25
They could have just given it away.
wheelsup_cavu
Unfortunately the ones for whom such aircraft were important are becoming fewer and fewer each passing day. Imo, In the not too distant future these types of scenarios will become common place and no one will be reporting about them nor care. 😞 Wheels 1 Quote Download Missions, Skins, & Essential files for IL-2 1946 and several other game series from Mission4Today. BlitzPig_EL
I see the same thing happening in the collector car field. Nobody wants grand dad's Model T or Model A Fords anymore. 2
Van_Helsdingen
Increadable, then they just didn't look hard enough. There are plenty of museums worldwide that would be happy to have taken it into their collection!

You are correct in that there was likely several museums that would have taken the aircraft if you had donated it to them. However the fly in the ointment when it comes to donations is that the museums expect you to foot all the expenses to get things to them. Irvine would not even foot the expense to move it outside let alone the thousands of dollars that would have been necessary to move it someplace else.
