Hi. How do I change my online name? I'm slparker17 and wish it to instead be TP_Sparky to match with my Tangmere Pilot buddies. We're eagerly awaiting a return to Pacific carrier ops so we can 'fold wings in anger'.  In IL2 1946 campaigns before I joined, they flew Pacific campaigns and one of the TP guys took off from the carrier and folded his wings in flight when he meant to raise his landing gear. On another mission, he did it again. 😆

When I went through US Navy pilot training, they first put a cheap piece of masking tape on your helmet and wrote your first initial and the first five letters of your last name in magic marker on the masking tape so someone else wouldn't grab your helmet by mistake. For me, that was "S.PARKE". I never screwed up in a way to earn a new callsign so "Sparky" it stayed.  

I've been with Tangmere Pilots for 5 years and we fly two squadrons of 12 or so each week. I'm one of the few US TP guys (we have guys from Eastern Europe as well) and TP guys told me "Sparky" means electrician in Great Britian, so I had a ready-made 1940's RAF callsign. 

I'm listening to a podcast, The Unauthorized History of the Pacific War and wished we could replicate the aborted carrier mission to relieve Wake Island, the early carrier raids, the Coral Sea and Midway battles, Cactus Air Force and a host of actions in The Slot.  I know your first module will go through Midway in June, 1942, but we hope a second module covers Henderson Field and Fighter 1. 

Thanks for all your work on our present combat flight sim and we're on-board for you in any way we can (playtesting, etc.)  I'm waiting for the opportunity to preorder and support Combat Pilot.

Unless it was an intentional omission there is another minor niggle that is confusing to me. You skip from a 2 star to a 4 star admiral in your Forum Ranks chart Plus the O designations for WW2 are incorrect for the 4 star and 5 star Admiral. An O-9 was a 3 star, an O-10 was a 4 star, and an O-11 was the 5 star, at least during WW2 according to the research I have done . There have also been no 5 star fleet Admirals since William Halsey but the rank does work for a WW2 setting though.

If you were to decide to alter the Ranks to address this to add the 3 star admiral rank and change the points in the process imo the most simple fix to add another rank to add the 3 star admiral and to keep the Tom rank at an even number would just be to bump him to 15,000 points. Navigator Badge.

In the FAQ Image it is for logging in every day for a month.

 

When I received the badge earlier this morning the text states it is for logging in for a year.

Seems the time for the badge to be issued was changed but the text for the award was missed.

Another minor question regarding Discussion Forum Badges @Jason_Williams. The final badge shown at the bottom of the FAQ image is for Intel Officer.

I see no way for that badge to ever be granted by community input. How does one even get a Best Answer granted let alone ten of them?

Instead of being instantaneous I would think that a 5 minute window after you post something should be sufficient to allow for fixing of minor mistakes to your post.

It may be time to consider updating the text on some of your badges. I received another one this morning where the text of the badge did not match the reason it was awarded. 😱 😱😱😱  😉

Not sure if you want to consider disabling the Start new Topic option in the The Rules. and Announcements forums for the general membership.

 

Seems like those forums were meant for only the Admins, Mods, and Developers to start threads. In the ADMINCP there is normally a permission that you can alter for each individual forum that will still allow users to posts in the threads that are not locked but they will not be able to start their own threads in those forums.

I am definitely curious to know if there are some unexpected difficulties being experienced when it comes to updating the Discord link at the bottom of the page.

 

The Discord link at the bottom of every page is still incorrect.

To fix the link it should be changed to one of the following:

The Air Force currently doesn't have Warrant Officers, but they're on their way back.

I would think that you would want the Discord link at the bottom of every page to work? It has not worked since the forum opened last year and it has almost been another 90 days since I last mentioned the Discord link was broken.

The Discord link is still broken at the bottom of the page and so I am not a completely broken record here is a new one too.

The text associated to the badges still does not concur with when they are awarded to the member.

• Tailgunner 30 days since joining - Tail Gunner - Well Followed (30 days since joining)

• Bombadier A year since joining - Bombardier - Week One Done (12 months since joining)

I just received the Bombardier badge today and the text associated to the badge shows Week One Done instead of Year One Done. I have 5 of the 6 badges and I still see no way to be awarded the Intel Officer badge.

This is one that will likely need to be addressed by the developer of the forum software since I have the same problem on other sites that use the Invision forums. The problem is with the page links for the Past Leaders page I circled in the image below.

The page opens fine but if I click on any of the other page links 2, 3, 4, etc. the page does not update to the new page. I stay on the original page. The only way I can get the page to update is to click on the link which does update the browser line, but does not go to the requested page, and then use Ctrl-F5 so the page updates. Once I refresh the page if I want a new page I have to follow the same routine, click the link and use CTRL-F5 so it will update. I have this problem with the Firefox, Palemoon, and Edge browsers. As I have already stated this problem for me is not unique to this site.

 

It was working correctly until fairly recently so it most likely has to do with an update you installed in the past few weeks.

On the more pedantic side I noticed one of you classic smileys is incorrect. The classic blink smiley should be a gif whereas yours is a png file
