Administrators CP_Admin Posted April 3, 2023 Administrators Share Posted April 3, 2023 Dear Pilots! Feel free to share any information, resources or references about American squadrons and other units that fought in the Pacific Theater 1941-1945. We have good references, but can always use more. Thanks in advance! The Combat Pilot Team

Boom
I have the 'History Of Marine Corps Aviation In World War II", by Robert Sherrod. Covers all aspects of Mariane aviation, including aircraft, units, locations and dates of deployment and personalities. The best book around for USN unit details is Barrett Tillmans 'US Navy Fighter Squadrons In World War II'. Sadly price wise it's out of my reach. But you ca contact Barrett either on https://j-aircraft.com/ or http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/ He frequents both sites. Finally j-aircraft is to the place to go to regarding anything Japanese in WWII. The knowledge of the folks there is unsurpassed.

I was able to snag “US Navy fighter squadrons in World War II” online used from a library somewhere in Pennsylvania that was selling it. I also got Barrett Tillman‘s “US Marine Corps fighter squadrons of World War II”. Both great references that I used for getting info on squads, pilots and aircraft I skinned for an Aces High 3. If anyone is looking for squad info from those I can relay what’s needed. My main interest has always been the Corsair and VF-17, but have built up a collection of books on WW2 USN pilots, squads, aircraft and their markings.
