Looks to be an ANF-Mereaux, sort of.  Competitor in the French fighter trials of 1930.

As said, it is not a French aircraft. But you certainly found what one could call its template. Remarkably enough, it is also an all metal (for the most part, rudder and tailplanes were cloth covered) aircraft, unlike the Hawker Fury or the ANF-Mereaux variants.

The test pilot flew an outside loop with it as display maneuver. It had the unofficial European speed record for planes with a fixed undercarridge. The test pilot in question also found the aircraft superior to the Hawker Fury. Although it appears that the rest of the operational pilots didn‘t really share that optimism, despite mock-dogfights (performed with the one said test pilot that was happy to fly the crate) giving substance to the claim.

The emergence of monoplanes with retractable undercarriage however pulled down the lid on that kind of aircraft. It didn‘t help that in the second half of the 1930‘s only a dozen or so could be built. But they saw active service in WW2 up to 1944, maybe even 1945. But hard to tell what some did with just a single aircraft.

Lysander?

Well done sir!

One of a number of configurations for gunnery training in Canada (and presumably good prep for those long hours in a freezing FN turret to come).

This might very well be the tail of a two engined airplane. It might not be flaps we are seeing but elevators. I think the uniform is US so my guess is B 26

When i saw the picture that was my thought which is why the devil in me chose it. Look closely though and you'll see the elevators present on the far tip of the wing and some leading edge slats.
