Enceladus Posted October 25, 2023 Share Posted October 25, 2023 Part of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest naval battle of WW2, the Battle off Samar is a tale of great heroism, determination and self-sacrifice as a fleet of tiny American "Tin Can" ships and planes from Taffy 3, caught completely off guard by an armada of Japanese ships ranging from destroyers all the way up to and including the largest and most powerful battleship ever built, the Yamato, managed to hold off this armada that was threatening to disrupt General Macarthur's invasion force on the Philippine island of Leyte.
