Though, in fairness to the Russians (not something I say a great deal these days) I think those ladders are actually a lighting column. Oh.... I love this thread for learning "stuff". for instance I'd always assumed that the cockpit of the Mil V-12 was the bulge and that the glazed nose was some weird VIP-sky suit. No so!
