  1. So, apparently, the guys in the movie are all real former aviators: And the "making of"
  2. Just stumbled across the cool little short film by Katheryn Bigelow (director of "Zero Dark Thirty") that both honors vets and give a nod to flight sims
  3. Polychop Q&A on the Kiowa Warrior today:
  4. Yeah, it definitely is, it's crazy they shot this in Canada too, definitely did a great job with production making a convincing Japan.
  5. This is my second favorite show of the year so far right behind "Shogun". I never played any of the games but it was very easy to follow what was going on IMO:
  6. This week episode was very good as usual but also ☹️
  7. Is it weird I'm most hyped for drop tanks 😂 In all seriousness, this is looking great thus far! Can't wait for further developments!
  8. Definitely agree. My rating is a bit higher at 6.5 out of 10. My biggest gripes are the writing which just isn't very good, no way Orloff should've been given the reigns to this show. Also, the CGI was so hit and miss.... which I kind of understand now after this interview with the Vfx supervisor last week: He readily admits the CGI quality wasn't where he would've liked to have been and I definitely agree Episode 9 had the best visual affects of the whole miniseries. If....and that is a big IF there is another WWII mini-series from the Hanks/Spielberg duo, I hope they go back to what made "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" so successful, "Masters of the Air" is the perfect example of what's wrong with modern day Hollywood unfortunately...
  9. Just finished Episode 9. It's a massive improvement over the last few episodes! This director should've directed the whole show! Plus, where were this good visual effects the other 8 episodes??? Also, an 8th AF fighter group finally gets some much overdue of screen time, though brief. Overall, it was a solid ending to a mini-series that could've and should've been much better IMHO. Hopefully with time, It'll eventually grow on me.
  10. One of the worst and disrespectful depictions I've seen of the Tuskegee Airmen on screen (yes, even "Red Tails" is better in my book) They literally killed off a man who not only survived the war but was never shot down (he did have to make an emergency landing after engine trouble in Oct 44 and was picked up by partisans and returned to his unit a month later) on top of being featured in several WWII documentaries until his passing in 2016, Shelby Westbook. And the P-51 the main actor is flying was never shot down during the war and was flown by one of the 3 top scoring pilots in the 332nd, Ed Toppins who also survived the war. Oh and that god awful CGI 😑 they completely crapped the bed....
  11. Episode 8 has got to be some of the worst writing and CGI I've seen in a show or movie in a very long time. Plus the "on the next episode" preview it tries to build tension with Rosie but it's all basically spoiled by the show's intro that is shown every week...
  12. I'll have to check out the original eventually, I'm absolutely loving this new iteration!
  13. Couldn't agree more!
  14. It's only 3 episodes in... but this may easily be the best show of 2024! The production value, acting and story so far is just so compelling! Highly recommend!
  15. Yeah, him and the guy playing Egan are probably the least likeable people on the entire show.
  16. Evidently, every single British officer except Wingate was pompous jerk and every single German was a mustache twirling villain, including the children according to the shows writer, no nuance whatsoever..... Episodes 4 and 5 have been my the best ones so far IMHO.
  17. My initial thoughts after the first watch of episodes 1 & 2: The 2nd episode was better than the 1st episode by far! They really needed an episode of the group training so we could get to know the characters better instead of rushing into combat... when people died or got wounded I felt nothing. The actors playing Crosby and Biddick are doing a great job so far though, they are my favorites on the show at this point. The CGI... it ranges from being "ok" to pretty decent in some spots and in other spots...looks very unfinished. The exterior takeoff scenes are very wonky looking. But the stationary stuff on the ground around the planes and the aircraft interior scenes where they used more practical sets look great! I feel like there is way too much music during the combat scenes. The sound design in several spots could've used some beefing up. Even if there aren't the real veterans around to open each episode, some historical context like there was at the beginning of some of "The Pacific" episodes would've been great! There is a lot of assumption that the viewer knows what's going on in the war. The RAF isn't portrayed in the best of lights in the show so far which I know is definitely gonna ruffle some feathers...as it should, no idea why they felt this was needed... Why are there random children running around on a military base in wartime? Was this a thing in England during the war? Overall... in the first two episodes its very evident this show isn't to the quality standard of "Band of Brothers" or "The Pacific" by a long shot in my opinion...but it's still decent and I'm looking forward to next week's episode which is supposed to be the Schweinfurt raid.
  18. So, nice surprise! Masters of the Air actually airs it's first two episodes TONIGHT in the states!
  19. A few released clips and featurette:
  20. New promo clip showing on Twitter and Instagram. The CGI looks a little better here compared to the previous stuff IMHO...
  21. Yeah, I definitely think they should've done this following a fighter group instead of a bomber group. Logistically, I think it would've been easier to produce without such a heavy reliance on CGI being front and center. Someone on the reddit thread mentioned, the 4th FG would've been perfect since it could've gone from them fighting in the RAF as the "Eagle Squadron" then transitioning to the USAAF all the way to VE day. At the very least, they should've picked an 8th AF fighter group to depict in the show instead of the 332nd FG which has already been in multiple movies and shows. If this mini series goes all 9 episodes without specifically mentioning a single 8th or 9th AF fighter group protecting these guys (100th BG)... that would be disappointing and honestly pretty disingenuous.
  22. Unfortunately can't disagree ☹️ "Unbroken" from 2013 had a somewhat similar scene (also CGI) and I think that looks much better than the new sequence in MoTA... Still looking forward to MoTA... just with much lowered expectations
  23. Title Sequence: And first clip: https://www.imdb.com/video/vi4183934745/?listId=ls053181649&ref_=pe_83942430_803237560
