  1. A great interview. Following the development process of a flight sim is nearly as interesting for me as actually playing it. I hope Jason will give us more detailed insights into the work of the team in the future. As someone who works a lot with GIS, I am especially interested how the creation of maps for Combat Pilot works.

  3. I guess map sizes of 1000 x 1000 km shouldn't be a problem, because most of the area will be water. If we see any performance issues in the game, I doubt it will be caused by map size. I just hope Combat Pilot doesn't make the same mistake as Il-2 Pacific Fighter. Il-2 PF maps like Tarawa or Okinawa did not have enough ocean area around the islands, so carrier task forces had to be placed much closer to the islands than in reality.
  4. A Career mode like in Il-2GB will be a problem when the game is mostly focused on carrier battles. But who knows, maybe the devs will instead try something completely new. For example a game mode similar to "Task Force Admiral", where the player commands a whole carrier task force and plans the missions of his squadrons.
  5. If they really add some early war carrier force vs land bases scenarios, I think the Marshall and Gilbert Islands raids would be the better choice, mostly because the map/maps could also be used for later scenarios. Pearl Harbor would only be useable for December 7, 1941.
