Boom
Am re-reading Michael Claringbould's excellent South Pacific Air War series. I had forgotten just how active the Type 96 was in the first 12 months of the Pacific war. It saw action over Rebaul, both initial invasion and ongoing CAP duties well into '42; Gasmata, Lae, Roi and Kwajalein Atolls against the USN first carrier raids in February '42 and Coral Sea off Shoho. I really hope that it's included in the 'early war' aircraft lineup. Would be a buzz to try intercepting the early Rebaul and Lae raids by B-17's, B-25's and B-26's.
