  1. Yes that's right, tools for testing the damage models, flight models, and other important statistics, available for everybody. It would be extremely useful to be able to fire specific ammo at specific parts of aircraft or other targets, and also have the ability to fly these damaged aircraft for durability and flight model testing. Similar to a feature seen in another game which allows you to see armor values, penetration values, and shrapnel effects on specific parts of an aircraft, with any ammo available. Other similarly useful features would be realtime detailed aircraft statistics such as AoA, turn rates, drag, acceleration, propeller efficiency, pilot G forces/fatigue, etc.. something like an in-game TacView if it's possible to create (with the option to disable in multiplayer of course). Tools such as these will give Combat Pilot an edge in getting things right, while hopefully helping to avoid some conflicts among the community and time consuming revisions in the future.
  2. Yeah, this is why I hope we see some good tools for testers and even the average players, like ways to fire specific ammo at specific parts of aircraft, then fly that aircraft etc. If we find ourselves in situations where people are asking for design changes, it will be easier to provide evidence to back up these claims, or to the contrary... much more productive to the improvement of the game, to avoid opinionated arguments.
  3. I believe sometimes it can be possible for players, those at least with thousands of hours, to provide a unique perspective on gameplay that might not always be readily apparent to the devs. For example in multiplayer, and how things such as the damage models, flight models, net code etc interact in this competitive environment. Not saying it's always the case, just something to note.
  4. I too was offered to test for DCS WW2, but I denied it as I don't play it nearly as much, otherwise I would have been testing both as well. As long as the testers have been in the community for a considerable time to be trustworthy, and there's no significant bias for one or the other, I don't think there should be any issues. For me personally I simply love this style of flight sims that Jason/IL2 have produced and would be glad to use my experience to help in any way possible. 😁
  5. Despite what some may think of Steam, it's huge for publicity especially for niche genres like this.
  6. For games that strive for accuracy, sometimes things will "slip through", and it's no fault of the developers.. it's the nature of the complexity of such games. So having reliable testers can be extremely useful and time saving for the devs. I have a good feeling though you won't see these issues from the past in such dramatic fashion, especially if time is taken to create proper testing tools for testers, and even ways for the average player to test things if they wish to do so. The ability to provide facts and proper evidence to a problem will solve many things.
