Trooper117
''Hawker'' have a look... 5
JFM
Hawker is an interesting man but just based on that clip, I suspect they'll get salient details of his final dogfight incorrect (almost all books have). To correctly document what happened they'll have to show/explain Hawker making the mistakes that ultimately led to his death. If they actually do that I'll commend them for it. Oh, wait, that's the "full" release? Erroneously I thought it was a long preview trailer. They just glossed over the end, so no details to get wrong. Except MvR didn't have the PLM or fly a triplane in November 1916, but to be fair they could have been depicting a salute to Hawker almost 1.5 years later.
Trooper117
Yes, I think the film is more about letting people who have little knowledge about him, an insight into his early exploits, rather than a full blown historical account of his life... still, I think they did a reasonable job, and I think they may have thrown the triplane in as everyone associates MvR with it. It was a good attempt to show the early problems the RFC had going from rifles and pistols, to get a machine gun equipped on an aeroplane, and also emphasising the main role of the RFC was to intercept the enemies 2 seaters.
Chief_Mouser
Hammily acted and obviously made without much of a budget, but still worthwhile for portraying one of the forgotten pioneers of the RFC. 🍻 3 Quote The Bell Inn, Bath. Live music venue and real ale pub (thebellinnbath.co.uk) I am no longer in the homepage picture. I would have been but the bus home came along before they took it 😟.
