Boom
Wonderful movie. A really good representative depiction of the Battle, without the usual 'Hollywood' hype.

Trooper117
I still watch this film at least twice a year... and it fired my imagination and interest into WWII aviation!
Chief_Mouser
I was part of the ATC Guard of Honour for Bob Stanford Tuck and a few other pilots at the Margate screening - so we got in for free! 🍻 8 Quote The Bell Inn, Bath. Live music venue and real ale pub (thebellinnbath.co.uk) I am no longer in the homepage picture. I would have been but the bus home came along before they took it 😟. Boo
My local ATC (Royton) apparently gave up its clipped wing Spitfire XVI to be used as background aircraft for the film. This it it in 1966. Behind it on the right of the image is the end of High Barn Primary School's playing field where I spent many an hour, nose pressed against the fence looking at the Meteor and Vampire that replaced it. After the film TE184 was a gate guardian at RAF Cranwell for a short time before passing though various storage locations and into the care of Nick Grace then various other notable collectors and restoration shops, being rebuilt in the process as a High Back. Its now an airworthy example based out of Biggin Hill and it looks fantastic! Edited November 6 by Boo cos apparently it take some people 7 attempts to spell meti...metero....metior :-)
Trooper117
It gets my vote because, well, it is a Spitfire!
Mysticpuma
Thoroughly recommend this book if you want to learn more about the film and the huge struggles it faced to be made.
Mysticpuma
I remember an anecdote from around the time the film was being made that the Producers were contacted by the United Nations. The question being asked was; "Why have you assembled the 35 largest air force in the world?" To which they were happy to hear it was for a film. 1
Trooper117
I have the special edition dvd, it has a second disc of how they made the film and all the ups and downs of filming and production... that was worth the watch too.
