Major Lee Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) "Kearby's Thunderbolts: the 348th Fighter Group in World War II" By John C. Spanaway Schaffer Publishing 1997 This is the complete history of the 348th FG in WWII. The book contains exceptional historical narratives, aircraft rosters and SNs, aerial victory list, and extensive pictures. Excellent information regarding the most successful P47 group in the PTO. Also covers their successful transition to the P51 Mustang. At the heart of this book, is of course, Col Neel Kirby, recipient of the Medal of Honor. Also detailed are notable pilots such as William Dunham, Bob Rowland and George Davis. Edited October 8, 2024 by Major Lee Added information 5 Quote
Boom Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Excellent book, well worth the read. Sadly Kearby lost focus about his real role and got caught up in the ace chase glory ride, along with a number of other high profile pilots in 5th Air Force. It cost him his life. 4 Quote
