Boom
Beautiful aircraft. And that pilot sure can fly, he just kissed that landing, so smooth. Would luv to know what he thinks of flying the 109 E. Back in the day when I was knee high to a grasshopper, the second Airfix kit I bought was the Bf 109g, the first being the Albatross D.V. My two favourite aeroplanes. That was back in the 60's. From memory it wasn't until the early 70's that Airfix finally got around to making an 'E' model. Odd for an English company that it took so long.
CPT Crunch
Put's into perspective how small this aircraft really is. Initially it looked like a 3/4 replica to me. The guys in the pit look oversized compared to our normal games, can't imagine how tight those pits really are.

Major Lee
The Airzoo in Kalamazoo has a Buchon (Spanish license built 109) that was a movie star, having been in the movie "The Battle of Britain". The Airzoo has open cockpit weekends, so I was able to get in it way back. That plane is small! I'm 5'11", and they put the canopy down; my head touched the top glass, and I wasn't even sitting on a parachute. The stick is right between your knees, and you only get a few inches of lateral movement left to right. To get full movement, you have to try to draw one leg up out of the way, pulling your knee towards your chest. There is no rearward visibilty to speak of; best have a good wingman in a combat zone. The HA1112, of course, used a British Merlin engine, lacking the proper DB engine post-war. What a hot ship this must have been! https://www.airzoo.org/wwii/airplanes-3/hispano-buchon#dismiss

You'll like the front seat then a great lot more.
Major Lee
No thank you!! I do prefer the spacious cockpit of late model P47D25+ (M or N also) with the bubble canopy!

I could put my fingers on that one, but if you are over six foot tall, adding more knee joints won't help, as it gets a weight issue as well. I prefered their other rides, as much as I would have wanted to fly a 109 as well.

Live music venue and real ale pub (thebellinnbath.co.uk) I am no longer in the homepage picture. I would have been but the bus home came along before they took it 😟. I was next to the 109E at Biggin Hill when it made a full power ground run. A Spit, even during a run up, ist just purring compared to that infernal scream of the DB engine. Ear protection is really mandatory.
