One feature I rarely see represented is multiple cloud layers, layers where they can be thin below but thick above or thick above and thin below. While appreciating that there are so many features to create (models, flight dynamics, damage effects, etc), the actual environment we fly in makes the difference between viewing it or feeling like we belong in it.

These clips of video show some nice cloud layers in real life. I appreciate that it's pushing boundaries, but this is Unreal 5 and a build for the future.

That should be the bare minimum. It should not only show the clouds, but actually simulate the atmosphere resulting in clouds. Flying is not just about the aircraft, it is as much (sometimes even more so) about the environment.

That's my expectation, but with Unreal 5....the skies the limit?(but hopefully not 🙂 )

One of the good things about the devs choosing UE5 is that I'm sure there's actually volumetric cloud rendering tools for it. There's a lot I hate about the decision to use UE5 (e.g. lumen being excellent for screenshots but being absolutely terrible for long distance rendering with rapid camera movements), but at the same time there is a lot of potential to use tools that the devs won't have to make in-house from scratch like this.
